Influence of punk on rock music: Bad and good aspects?
My thought on this: The emphasis on authenticity is mainly good, and the energy, and the fast playing which influenced thrash metal. But on the other hand, the rejection of complexity and technical proficiency has been a bad thing. It makes music less interesting- bring back the pretentious likes of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd! My big problem with most music today, is that it is too simple and unambitious.
Good aspects:
It proved that you do not have to be a talented musician to form a band.
