Relationship between history and Rock ‘N Roll music? Please help?

I have to do a project showing important historical events from 1975-1985 on a timeline. However, I also have to show the correspondence between Rock ‘N Roll music and the current events of the time; how the events effected the music. I just have no idea where to start. Help??
