do you think africa will eventually enter the rock and roll market?
i know there are some african rock bands already, but do you think there will ever be a point where they start turning out popular rock bands
i know rock has become more of a phenomenon in nigeria recently and there are probably lots of bands from south africa, a lot of other places in africa still only listen to traditional music, do you think this will change?
I’ve heard some pretty good rock-ish music from Mali and a few other west African countries. The main problem with transition to the States is that any song in a language other than English will have trouble gaining popularity over here. All of the Malian music I listen to is in Bamada Kan (sp?), but I actually have some Nigerian friends who are musicians and record all of their stuff in English– unfortunately, they only do hip-hop.
