What is the process for becoming a songwriter?
I am a singer, but I also write and make music (instrumentals). I know that songwriting is a way to break into the industry. I currently write r&b, pop, rock, gospel, themes, and dance songs. I am going to get my music copyrighted and hope to market them on youtube, myspace, etc. I will join ASCAP & BMI, but I was wondering what is the best way to find connections for the genres I write?
For instance, what is the best way to connect with other composers who can also create instrumentals for my songs? Also any information with music with publishers for the types of songs I write would be great. I am in the Los Angeles area.
All of your expertise would be wonderful!
looks like your on the right path!
maybe preform some of them in a live setting in case a scout is out and about!
just be you!
maybe write a book and get it published!
but 1 thing i know for sure you said you will join ascap and bmi… take out will and just do it!
that will help much!!
Go to recording studios (real ones) and ask them if they need or have heard of anyone who is in need of words or instrumental or ask if there is any instrumental you can purchase or talk to the creator…
Just got to ask around!
also life shows!
go to life shows a lot of bands no of new bands or others who want to be in a band so check them out to you never know who you can met!
