Is Christian rock music a joke?
I have been recently listening to this Christian rock station called “Power FM” which is broadcast in Dallas, Texas. I actually enjoy the music. I think it’s awesome that bands can rock out to God. Though I’ve been told that Christian rock is a farce. In other words, it’s a joke, that you can’t combine rock music with Christian tenets. What is your opinion on Christian rock music?
I think there’s nothing wrong with Christian musicians speaking out through rock music.
I don’t listen to much Christian rock; most often Underoath.
The common misconception comes with the origin of rock music. The earliest rock musicians were thought to be satanic; people would find “hidden messages” and such in songs and claim they’re from Satan.
Rock musicians are generally seen as the epitomy of drugs, sex, and drinking, which go against Christianity.
Some people just don’t realize that not every rock musician or rock band fits that overwritten standard.
