rock music exposed

My son loves rap music.?
I grew up in the 80′s and 90′s and was more exposed to rock and metal than I was to hip-hip, though I was not living in a cave and I like NWA, Slick rick, and that guy from the ghetto boys who did the song for “Child’s Play”
My kid likes rap based on the stuff on the radio which I think is crap and/or innapropriate. He is nine and wants me to buy him Fifty Cent albums.
Can anyone clue me in to some current rap artists that are:
Truly talented and creative.
Appropriate for a kid.
Not christian rap.
Cool to a nine year old boy.
Common Market (doesn’t swear, positive message, focus on lifting the youth, talented, not Christian rap), they are perfect for a kid.
Visionaries (another positive message group)
Zion I
The Sound Providers (jazzy and laid back)
Common
Brother Ali
If your son is truly into rap and not just what he hears on the radio, he will enjoy these types of groups and it will be easy for you to find appropriate rap for him. If he only likes the 50 Cent stuff then you will have a very hard time finding appropriate stuff for him but the good news is it would be a phase thing that he would grow out of.
