new rock music playlist

Creating a rock playlist for my lil’ nephew?
I got a nephew who just entered middle school and also just had a birthday party. He got an iPod. So he asked me to put some music into his iPod. Problem is I know that half of the songs i have aren’t going to be something he’s going to like and the other half are songs he shouldn’t listen to (or at the very least have me be the one to introduce him to). So I ask you nice people at Yahoo Answers to help me out and construct a play list of rock songs that i could download off iTunes and introduce to a 11 year old boy who says he likes rock yet doesn’t have any idea which specific songs he might like. A mix of classics and new ones would be nice. I’m asking because rock music isn’t something I know very well.
Rock is an extremely large genre em compassing a huge array of styles. But Ill stick my neck out and offer up a loose playlist which may help someone just developing a taste for it.
