Possible move to NYC?

I realize that moving to NYC does not a NY’er make. It takes time to become acclamated to and mired in the ways and qualities of life. I’m from Kentucky and have an extremely slight Southern accent that fellow Ky’ans don’t notice, but I don’t listen to country music, hunt, fish, or walk and talk slow.

Within 18-24 mos., I would really like to get on with an economic development or transportation dept. job with the City of NY, or work for a political think-tank. Obviously, while working in Manhattan would be more feasible for me than living there, I’m looking into studios for under $1100/mo. Regardless, this will take rooming with stranger or two.

Which areas am I considering living in? Far north and west Bronx, Brooklyn, or Queens no more than 45 min. via train from midtown Manhattan.

I also work for Wal-Mart now, so I can transfer to L.I., Jersey, or Westchester. Already, I have appx. $2000 saved up and will be working at a high-paying internship soon.

Thanks in advance!

ya sure! New york is a great place to live!!!
