Are artists avoiding the United States?
I’ve been looking around the web, plotting out tour dates and such, seeing who is coming through when and where in the music industry. Something has caught my eye, and for once I wonder if a trend would emerge from it.
Kanye West is doing it big in Europe promoting his new album. Other than a TRL appearance, I have not seen much about his promoting it here. Same with Rihanna and her “Good Girl Gone Bad” Album: a torrent of promotion in the UK and across Europe, and even Canada. But in the US? Some scattered billboards, and some web campaigns, but other than the occasional TV appearance for BET or MTV months ago, no tour.
Then I began tracking other artists (Kanye and Rihanna were two of my summer favorite). Other than the occasional gangsta hip-hop inspired breakout, and the played out rock scene, the US has very little happening in it.
Is the US to be avoided right now by popular hip-hop and R&B artists? And why?
Maybe they get more respect outside the US?
