hip hop music questions

Why do people only ask, “Why do people like hip hop music?”?
Everyday I get on here and I see the same question: Why do people like Hip Hop? I don’t understand! There’s hardly ever any qustions about why people like Punk or Heavy Metal. I’m not saying that I don’t like those genres, I’m just tired of people bashing the music of my generation! I mean I understand that hip hop isn’t what it used to be and I agree that it isn’t as good but here’s my other question for the older people: Do you ever think that you sound like your parents when you criticize hip hop? Because in a way, isn’t that what they did to the music that you listened to and that we now consider classics? OK! Answer both question or only one, I don’t care but pease be respectful because I’m a teen and I really don’t mean to offend anyone. Answer with most thought gets the 10 points! Thanx!
You have a legitimate question for a person of your generation. I didnt grow up with hip hop being that Im 42 and to be honest I never really liked it. In my late 20s when hip hop was gaining ground I used to say, “thats not music”. But although I think most of it is a poor expression of how quality music should be (Im a former muscian) that was an ignorant statement on my part. You see, the definition of music is: Sound organized for expressive purposes. So one can not say its not music or something like that. Most “music” fits that definition. Hip Hop is certainly sound and it is expressive. Im interested in many types of music(mostly rock) but I must be mindful of other peoples tastes. Remember, that music is powerful, so be careful with lyrics. We can repeat things in a catchy song we would NEVER regularly say. Enjoy life, but know that their is a higher power. Rock on kid.
