Why is country music singer George Strait not on the Grand Ole Opry?

Because George Strait has integrity and respect.
The Opry has membership requirements, including a minimum number of appearances. Granted, those aren’t enforced today the way they were in the old days and are seen more as “suggestions” than a RULE; however, George lives in Texas and knows that, between his work on his ranch and his touring schedule, he would not be able to appear on the Opry on a regular basis. Therefore, he turned down membership. In contrast, there are “members” of the Opry (people whose names are on the rolls) who haven’t been to the Opry in well over a DECADE.
All I can say is GOOD FOR YOU, GEORGE.
Another thing: the Opry is a sinking ship. I don’t want George on it when it goes down.
