do you have to be”country” to sing country music?

i know it helps if you were born and raised country but i wasnt and I love playing the guitar and writing country music, i hope to have a career oneday, if not then i’ll do something different, but do you think i’ll have a disavantage, im also bi-racial, do you think this matters in the country industry? i just see so many female country stars and the majority seem to have blonde hair,

No, you don’t have to be born ‘country’ to sing and play Country Music.

UK has a mass Country Music fan-base and audience. But not everone here is by any means a ‘country person’ since most of us live in towns and cities.

However, the roots of ‘Country Music’ are from the UK plus add-ons in the USA.

Note the red and white English head-scarf – says a lot. Also, Dolly Parton is English and makes a point of it. Her ancestors come from Parton up there in the North West of England near the Lakes.

Dolly Parton once said, “It takes a whole bunch of money to look this trash”. She’s trying to look country and has succeeded like no one else.
