Q? Re: organized religions?
Considering that through history religious scholars were more commonly able to read and write while general populations were not able to, and that through text history is passed on from generation to generation, do you think that events may have been altered to suit religious dogma or to gain power?
And likewise, traditions for the illiterate, I would say, were then largely passed on through the arts (from the wandering lutists of history up to more recently music traditions from slavery (some origins of ragtime/blues/jazz))
and could that be why many fundamentalist religious doctrines had banned arts (any example from the movie “Footloose” to the taliban’s destrucion of ancient statues)?
And for perspective, on a scale from 1 (low) to 10 (very) how spiritual would you say you are, and how dedicated to an organized religion are you?
Those aren’t the only religions that exist. And mine has only been around for about 5 decades, 7 at most, so I doubt that happened in my religion.
Spiritual – 8
Dedicated to organized religion – 5. I’m a solitary practitioner, so that’s pretty high even for me.
