can someone give me some tips on popular jazz / blues music?

Can anyone recommend me good Jazz / blues music that is nice and relax, and has some excellent saxophone solos in it ?

What are some of the most popular artists, and what are some of the most popular songs? (without vocals)
- without vocals
- I’m looking for song names, not for artists in general
- must have excellent saxophone solo in the song
a trumpet is not a sax !!! even homer simpson knows the difference !

well the Cannonball Adderley Quintet had Julian Edwin “Cannonball” Adderley on the alto sax and his brother on the trumpet, and many diferent piano, bass, and drum players including: pianists Bobby Timmons, Victor Feldman, Joe Zawinul (later of Weather Report), and George Duke
bassists Sam Jones, Walter Booker and Victor Gaskin
and drummers Louis Hayes and Roy McCurdy

in the 1960′s they did the hit “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” that their paino player Joe Zawinul wrote. i played that song in jazz band and their is a huge improvised alto sax solo that the 1st alto sax player played. too bad i was 2nd alto sax. ):
we also played “Work Song” that his brother Nat Adderly wrote. but that doesn’t have a huge sax solo.

well this is a link to “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy”
but it is NOT the one the Cannonball Adderley Quintet did, it does sound like it though.

and this is a link for “Work Song”
and i’m pretty sure it’s the Cannonball Adderley Quintet playing it but im not sure. http://bayviewsax.netfirms.com/music/worksong_5-17-05.mp3

to learn more a bout Cannonball Adderley go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannonball_Adderley

good luck!
