Me and my band want a record deal?
Most of our music is covers but we are working on our own stuff too. We do things like The Used and Blink 182, some example to name a few are
Adams Song, First date, Stay Together for The Kids, Blue and Yelow and I Caught Fire.
So, what is the first step to a record deal?
PS: Please note that we are just two people at the moment. So we record it all a diff. times.
Robert, dont get it.
Do not play covers anymore, and network like your life depends on it. Get to know as many bands as you can (personally), and keep in touch with them. You’ve got to pay your dues opening for no-name bands for a while to get your name out there, but play as many shows as you can. Join up with some bands in your area and do some small tours.
You’ve got to have the whole package. You need to be an awesome band to watch, but you’ve also got to be technically and musically talented. Play your instuments a few hours a day, and really work at it. Don’t just play your favorite four chord cover songs. Learn your own style and work hard at perfecting it.
It’s going to take a lot of work, and a lot of time. There’s a lot of competition out there. Stay focused on the music (not the perks of being a musician) and you’ll do well with work.
