What good music schools don’t require a traditional instrumental audition?
It’s too bad that colleges don’t accept my art form — I am a self-taught fingerstyle guitarist and vocalist who is very proficient at the song form. I have spent years studying traditional American songs, such as Appalachian folk music and traditional rural blues. I’ve also studied English and Celtic folk guitar. I want to dedicate my life to music, but no school I’ve found gives a damn about what I’ve worked on. Why the hell do I have to sing Bach cantatas to get any respect these days?
I wish this could be my audition:

You probably should decide first why you want a college degree!
My mailman has a master’s degree in art history. Probably never considered what occupation that would prepare him for. Doubt he thought he would become a mailman.
It’s not difficult getting accepted to a junior college music / guitar class. If you’re proficient at reading music – a state college will accept you. (Junior colleges are more affordable.)
Not only will a music program require you to learn Bach but other instruments (Primarily a keyboard).
If you’re required to make an audition – choose a song without the capo.
Decide first the purpose for college.
